About me
I’m Kallis Souroullas, a food scientist with over 10 years experience in food processing, driven by a passion for innovation, food safety, and sustainable food processing. I hold a First-Class Honours BSc in Food Science & Microbiology from the University of Surrey, where I was awarded both the Sainsbury’s Award for outstanding academic performance and the Mars Food Science Prize for best final-year student. I later completed an MSc in Food Technology – Quality Assurance with Distinction at the University of Reading.
Throughout my career, I’ve led R&D initiatives, managed Quality Management Systems, conducted sensory and consumer research, and contributed to cutting-edge advancements in food processing and development.
I’m also the first author on several peer-reviewed scientific publications, particularly focusing on innovative food processing methods like UV-C treatment of milk and alternative dairy technologies.
Currently, I am pursuing a PhD focused on developing a Process Analytical Technology (PAT)-based verification method for UV-C dosage in treated milk — a critical innovation for ensuring food safety without relying on traditional heat-based pasteurization.
